Probiotics Updates - What probiotics do for your body?

Probiotics are talked about very frequently and many people online ask questions about them, and so I decided to make my own article about them and get more in-depth on the topic. Probiotics are bacteria that promote better health but this is quite vague, so let's talk more about their benefits but before that, I should mention that while you can buy and use supplements, by including foods with probiotics, you obtain similar results to consuming supplements because you take bacteria from your diet and it will be cheaper, the choice is up to you.

I would also like to add that science lacks evidence on multiple benefits of probiotic bacteria. in other words we have enough evidence to prove certain benefits of these bacteria but not plenty for others. We have proved in more than one study that regions of the body that are colonized with certain strains of probiotic bacteria, such as L. acidophilus, are healthier than others and infections happen there less frequently, also pathogens are rarely seen inhabiting these regions of the body because of them being colonized by probiotic bacteria.

We have also seen probiotic bacteria help in the treatment of infections so we know for a fact that they have positive influence on preventing and treating infections.

Probiotic bacteria can produce lactocidin among other substances, which is a natural antibiotic. Multiple strains have ability, and multiple strains can promote healthy levels of Ph in your body, as well as levels of nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide. Both these chemicals are believed to inhibit the growth and the reproduction and the activity of pathogens, which is how probiotics keep infections away and reduce the number of pathogens in the human body, however we have little or limited knowledge when it comes to the mechanisms of action of these substances or of the probiotic strains of bacteria producing them.

Many scientists recognise and have commented on the potential benefits of probiotic bacteria for restoring the microbiota and promoting health through keeping pathogens away, reducing inflammation and reducing sensitivity to infection.
