Probiotics and Probiotic Supplements

There are many reasons to use probiotic bacteria, either from supplements or from foods, and in this article I will talk about two of the most important ones.

In my opinion probiotics are most important for what they offer in terms of immunity and digestion, other than that I am not very impressed because we lack evidence to support other claims. I heard and read about probiotic bacteria possibly having influence on weight management. Words like possibly make me skeptical, I prefer things that have enough scientific evidence to be believable.

Basically researchers used probiotic strains of bacteria from fat rats and placed them into lean rats and as a result they observed weight gain in the lean rats which led them to associate weight gain or weight loss with probiotic bacteria but as you can clearly guess, they don't have much of an idea on how probiotics do this, what the mechanism is and so I don't think we can start using probiotic supplements to lose weight with such lack of info or proof.

On the other hand the evidence for probiotics helping to treat and prevent infections is quite overwhelming, it is clear to me that they are important for our immune system and this is the reason we should use them regularly, it's best to take them from your diet because food is better than supplements, well, atleast healthy food and second, because spending so much money each month on probiotic bacteria is not something that we can all afford to do, I'm sure.

Do not be fooled, it is not that much different to take probiotics from food than from a probiotic supplement, the results are very much the same for healthy individuals, I for one did not see anything different or of note.

Probiotic bacteria according to studies stimulate our production of antibodies, which are proteins if I am not mistaken, that are used by the immune system to fight pathogens along with white blood cells which by the way were discovered by russian scientist Ilie Metchnikoff which received a Nobel Prize for this discovery.

What is interesting is that there is a connection here, he discovered white blood cells and won a prize and in 1907 he also discovered probiotic bacteria.

He suggested the use of probiotics that led to today's probiotic supplements, saying that if we'd colonize our bodies with healthy microorganisms, we'd be healthier and live longer lives.

Regarding to probiotic supplemenets I think the best choice is Perfect Biotics but make sure that you read all the reviews you can before you buy any supplements.
